Based on current IESO rules, new electricity projects in Ontario must receive a municipal support resolution before they can move forward. Communities hosting projects should have a say, ensuring projects respect ecosystems, land use, and community health. To ensure projects really do benefit (and not harm) communities, evidence-based information about the impacts of electricity projects such as wind, solar, storage, or gas plants is critically important. Municipalities can use this Multi-Criteria Analysis Tool to support informed decision-making.
