The Atmospheric Fund commends the City of Toronto on the new net zero by 2040 target and climate plan adopted by council this week, which includes a suite of actions and policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the building and transportation sectors
TORONTO STAR – “We cannot afford to delay climate action for further planning. We urge Toronto Hydro and the city to ensure implementation of the climate plan beginning immediately, including quick-start actions around LED street lighting, EV charging and development of a large-scale solar and storage program,” TAF’s Bryan Purcell.

THE HAMILTON SPECTATOR – The latest carbon-tracking study from the Atmospheric Fund found emissions in the GTA and Hamilton fell 13 per cent in 2020 as a direct result of a “historic reduction” in vehicle use and industrial output due to COVID-19.
The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) today published the sources and amounts of carbon emissions in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). This year’s regional inventory includes two years of data (2019 and 2020) and provides the first look at emissions since the global pandemic.
