Support letter for City of Toronto motion to phase out gas-fired electricity generation

February 2021. City of Toronto. TAF submitted this letter of support in response to Toronto City Councillor McKelvie’s motion “Calling on the Province to Phase-Out Gas-Fired Electricity Generation” (MM28.21). The need to phase out gas-fired electricity generation from our energy systems is a growing issue in Toronto and all of Ontario. Without this phaseout, Toronto cannot achieve the net-zero carbon emissions target adopted by City Council in 2019.
